Run or Dye

 

 

A lot more people I thought there would be... so nice to see a good turn out. Maybe more things like this will start coming to my little California Town

 

The kids join us.. Family event and none of them complained.

until some unruly unsupervised kid decided to throw the cornstarch die directly into my niece eyes. Lets just say the adult that was with him didn't say word stepped away from us and the kid you did it became a stone statue. HAHAHA

 

My gifted sneakers purchased just for this run... love them.

Plan on doing it again... Highly recommend the Run or Dye 5K.

Very easy packet pick up at 7am.. Yes seven o'clock in the morning. The packet consisted of Run or Dye T-shirts,  temporary tattoos, and a dye packet. What was missing was the bracelets/glasses/headband, one of those were suppose to be in there and none of our packets had any. The girls were DISAPPOINTED!

 

The line for the packet pick up went by fast and they gave us excellent instruction on what to do. I was even able to pick up a team-members packet without them even being there or me having their paperwork.  The starting lines were a little crazy, everyone started to get confused and mixed into each other packet pick up and runner ready lines. In our families fashion we walked passed everyone in line and got behind the starting line. That's where the fun and dye throwing began.  They let small sections of the crowd go at a time. We were the third section to go and every time we scooted up they had us stretch and threw goodies into the crowed.  Once we were off the first dye section was right after the start line... YELLOW!!  BLUE!! PURPLE!!! PINK!! and last was ORANGE!! at the finish line. I tried to stay away from the orange through thing.. it seemed to be the dominate color on everyone. This is the section where that unsupervised child threw a hand full of ORANGE into my nieces eyes. At that point I rounded everyone up got a finish line picture of everyone and headed to the car.

 

Things I would suggest....

• Cover your car seats before the race, that way once its over your not trying to figure out how everyone is going to sit in the car without turning the of the car into the race.. thank goodness I had a blanket or we would of been walking.  New car problems.. never want to get it dirty.
• Two towels per person. One to get damp to wipe off face/chest/arms/legs and the other to dust off your clothes and wrap you hair in. I got dye on my hear rest and door frame from getting in and out of the car.  
• a bag for shoes!!! This is probably the second most important thing next to cover your seats.
• Wearing a tank top under your shirt that way you can take the colored dyed t-shirt off before getting into the car.  Shirt will then go with your shoes in the bag.
• Try to park the car in the shade since after the race you will be outside of the car a considerable amount of time trying to get cleaned off as much as you possible can.
• Sunglass!!!!
• water (they did provide water but you never know)
